4 inch Pre-Cut Heat Shrink Sleeve Tubing Assorted Size Set, 2:1, 160pcs - Assorted Colors
For protecting and sealing electrical connections, these pre-cut heat shrink sleeve tubings are the perfect choice. Featuring a flame retardant polyolefin tubing that is highly resistant to common fluids and solvents, these heat shrink sleeve tubings provide a solution where electrical insulation, repairing wire disconnects, and protecting wires is needed. Pre-cut in 4 inch strips, these heat shrink tubings come in an assorted color and size that's ideal for installers and DIYers. The heat shrink sleeve tubing provides a 2:1 shrinkage ratio and is TAA compliant and an UL recognized component.
Understanding Shrinkage Ratios
The basics behind heat shrink tubing is that it shrinks or contracts when heat is applied to it. By doing this, it forms a protective barrier around electrical connections, such as wires or cables, molding into a secure entity. When referring to shrinking ratios, such as 2:1, 3:1, or 4:1, the first number refers to the original heat shrink tubing before its shrunken form. In a 2:1, the 2 represents that the heat shrink is 2 times or twice as large as its shrunken form. In a 3:1, it is three times as large as its shrunken. In a 4:1, it is four times as large as its shrunken form. The 1 following after refers to its contracted form when heat is applied. So in the case of a 2:1, when shrunken, it is half the size of the original. In a 3:1, it is a third of the original, and in a 4:1 it is a quarter from the original size.
