HDMI installation - Audio extractor strips audio off HDMI

Bought this to supply audio to our stereo amp. Manual was technical, but I finally tried enough combinations that it started working. Option to pass video through, but I had the 8 port amplified splitter so used one of the ports for the audio. Set slide switch to the center pressed the audio switch to only pass audio. Need a flashlight and maybe a magnifying glass.
