We will begin by setting up the network function for accessing the DVR over the internet.
Power on the DVR and connect an RJ45 cable between the DVR and the router. |
Using a computer on the same router as the DVR, go to Start->Run and type in "cmd" and press enter. |
Type in "ipconfig" and press enter. Write down the "IP Address" and "Default Gateway" numbers. |
On the DVR, enter password of "0000" by pressing "enter" 4 times.
Go to menu->advance->network. |
Set IP type to "static IP".
Set the Gateway number to be the same as the computer's gateway number. Set the IP number to the same as the computer's ip number, except for the last 3 digits. For the last 3 digits, select a unique number. For example, we have selected 192.168.175.115, while the computer's ip is 192.168.175.103. Make sure the DVR's ip number is unique on the network if you have multiple computers attached to the same router. Press menu again to exit. |
DVR video can be viewed with either the included "Video Server E" software or with a web browser. The included software has the added ability to download video from the DVR to the computer.
We will begin by installing the Video Server software from CD. |
After installing, run Video Server. |
Click on 'search' |
It should find the DVR (if the IP and gateway was set correctly on the DVR, and the DVR is on the same router as the computer).
Highlight the DVR information and click "OK".
If the DVR is not found, you can also manually set the IP and gateway numbers to the DVR's (by editing the numbers in this screen). Then click "Apply". If prompted, enter login "admin" and password "admin". |
Log in with "admin" and "admin"
A window like this should appear. If you are getting no video, try restarting the PC, and logging in again.
The playback buttons can be expanded by clicking on the down arrow. You can use the top buttons to adjust the image resolution, and to record live video. Live video is saved to the desktop by default. To play the video, double click on the video file on the desktop. You can also convert this to AVI by clicking "AVI". |
The system settings holds a variety of recording options. First, recordings can be saved to an FTP site. |
You can select the folder where you want to save live video. |
You can also transfer video from the DVR to the computer.
To save the video from the DVR to the computer, click on "search list", and then "Download HDD List". Select the starting video date by clicking on a listed event. This will bring you back to the network backup window. Set the maximum size of the download, and note the file path of the download. Then, click "Start". Video transfer will begin. After it is done, you can play the file by clicking on it. You can convert the file to avi by clicking "avi" during playback. |

For accessing the DVR over the internet (outside of the DVR local network), you will need to set up port forwarding for the DVR's ip address and port.
Our DVR Router FAQ and dynamic DNS guides will help with this type of setup.
Next, we will access the DVR from a web browser, on the same local network as the DVR. Start up the web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Opera), and type in "http://" followed by the ip address of the DVR. It is important to type in "http://" before the number. Here, we have entered http://192.168.175.115 Log in with "admin" and "admin". |
You can control the DVR, camera views, and any PTZ cameras. |
