Also known as 1394, Firewire is used for connecting to external disk drives, transfering from DV camcorders, cable box display, and external card readers.
Firewire is more efficient than USB 2.0 and will acheive higher real-world performance. Firewire can be added to computers and laptops by add-in cards (PCI and cardbus cards). Versions include:
