PI Manufacturing provides these external eSATA RAID controller, which maximizes the performance of four external Serial ATA (eSATA) ports, providing throughput performance of over 800 MB/s* when used with the NO-DS-500 or NO-DS-1220 eSATA storage subsystems with built-in port multipliers. The controller is based on SiI3124 SATA II chip that supports port multiplier switching and connects four external Serial ATA device ports to an 8 lane physical, 4x/8x electrical PCI-express host connection. Attached to 20 hard drives using four port multipliers (two NO-DS-1220 or four NO-DS-500), the NO-RPC-4629 can reach a sequential read speed of over 800MB/s, enabling up to four uncompressed HD streams to be played simultaneously.
